In conjunction with the celebration of 70 years of the Porsche Clubs worldwide, Porsche Club Malaysia (PCM) flagged off a 16 car convoy from Porsche Center Sungai Besi on 18 June 2022 on an expedition to Penang. The program was a mix of adventure and grandeur, from durian buffet at an orchard to motorised boat rides to a fish farm for sumptuous seafood dinner, and culminating with a group appearance at the famous Straits Quay Marina during sunset the next day. The sight of our convoy brings onlookers to a halt, never missing their opportunities to snap pictures of this rare scene, and pose for some social media moments.
Hosted at a meticulously restored colonial mansion set in the heart of historical George Town, The Edison George Town, Penang is a masterpiece of luxurious comfort, old world charm and gracious hospitality. In between the 3D2N program, all cars were marshalled gracefully for a photo shoot at this iconic address before a morning island drive featuring 10 Taycans on a joint excursion with their petrol siblings. The weather was all perfect to take us on a 40km tour of the famous Batu Ferringhi beach followed by some endless, narrow, winding mountainous roads, finally leading us on more local food hunts to complete the lovely Sunday outing. Throughout, there were plenty of occasions to socialise among members, some new comers, some old hens, but all bonded by a shared passion for the Porsche ownership. A shout out to Porsche Center Penang for hosting us before our final home run, we clocked 800km in all, and returned back to base happily, relishing the recent memories and waiting in anticipation for the next big event …The PCM Gala Dinner in July.
